Meet Kristy

Kristy Sheffield – Office Manager/Technician/Animal Behavior Specialist.  Kristy’s love for animals began to develop into a career with her first job at B & B Pet Stop, which allowed her to learn to care for and work with various types of pets from dogs and cats, to large snakes and lizards, beautiful birds, small exotics, and tropical fish. Kristy began working in the veterinary field at the age of 16, starting as an assistant, later being trained as a Technician, and lastly developing into a supervisory role. Kristy has a special interest in animal training and behavior modification and has completed University of South Alabama’s Applied Behavior Analysis program and practicum. Kristy has also trained and certified several personal dogs through both the Canine Good Citizen test and Delta Society Therapy Pet Program. Growing up in Mobile, AL Kristy enjoys spending her free time being outdoors and creating mixed media art. Dr. Michael Sheffield and Kristy were married August 2nd of 2014. Together they share their home with 3 cats: Cleo, Gary, and Jack; and 5 dogs: Titus (Pit Mix), Hugo (Great Pyrenees), Solie (Pit Mix), Ripley (Great Dane Mix), and Nova (German Shepherd/Lab Mix). Kristy and Dr Sheffield also share their passion for aquatic life and to date have three planted fish tanks, two saltwater reef tanks, and two nano reef tanks.


Meet Betina Bio Header small

Betina Elia – Technician.  Betina was born in Brazil and moved to America when she was 18 years old. She is married to her high school sweetheart Weber and together they have two beautiful children, Giovanna 9 years old and Nicholas 3 years old. Her passion for animals goes as far back as she can remember. Betina and her family have 5 furbabies: Lola (Shih Tzu), Bella (Golden Retriever Mix), Mandy (Cocker Spaniel), Sassy (Cocker Spaniel), and Chloe (Cocker Spaniel). Working with animals and being in the veterinary field has been a long time dream for Betina and she is very passionate about her job and improving the lives of pets and their parents.


Meet Erin

Erin Aycock – Pet Nurse. Erin has been a Mississippi Gulf Coast resident all her life. She has been fascinated with animals of all kinds from a young age. Animal planet was the only TV network she would watch and still the only one. She grew up on 3-T Ranch in Vancleave where they raise registered Woods Texas Longhorns and when she was younger, where she would compete in rodeo competitions such as team penning and team sorting. She currently is enrolled at MGCCC as a sophomore and plans to go to MS State to study large animal veterinary medicine. She is very involved with Jackson County Animal shelter as a volunteer/foster mom for many rescue animals. In the year and a half she has been a foster, she has fostered and adopted out 74 cats/kittens and 23 dogs/puppies. She also has multiple furbabies of her own all of which were rescued either from the shelter or from bad situations, 4 dogs ( Sugar-chi/heeler mix, Cash- beagle mix, Bandit- rat terrier/chi mix, Raptor- pit mix), 9 cats (Ariel, Twitch, Shenzi, Mimic, Raggedy Ann, Tequila, Ferris, Tia, and Vice), 3 horses ( Alibi, Smoke, and Dusty), 3 mini horses ( Banjo, Bonnie, and Clyde), 5 goats ( Nugget, Buttercup, Elizabeth, Billy, and Dude), 1 sheep ( Hershey) , and 3 pot belly pigs ( Rock, Jingle, and Penelope).


Meet Jessica-2

Jessica Murphy – Client Service Representative. Jessica, originally from Las Vegas, grew up in a military household moving quite often. She eventually ended up in Florida where she met her husband Tim, who ironically is also in the military and has continued to move around a bit since then. They have been stationed here in Mississippi for the past five years and love the Gulf Coast lifestyle. Jessica has one human son, Joshua who is almost 14 years old, and is a mommy to many fur babies. In her free time, Jessica is a foster and volunteer for Tired Dog Rescue (and is a self admitted Foster Failure), she also enjoys running marathons and exploring the wide variety of food our community has to offer.


Meet Brianna Header

Brianna Newman – Licensed Veterinary Technician. Brianna was born and raised in Biloxi, MS. Even at a young age, she had always loved animals and knew that one day this would lead her to a career in veterinary medicine. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Medical Technology program at Mississippi State University. Since August 2016, she has been on clinical rotations at MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine. These rotations include many different areas: anesthesia, dentistry, ICU/ER, equine, food animal, ambulatory, radiology, pharmacy, and even lab animals like primates and rodents. In May 2017, she will graduate from the program with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology. Following graduation, she will become a Certified Veterinary Technician after taking the VTNE. She has a special interest in rehabilitation therapy and behavior medicine. When she gets the chance, she enjoys going to Disney World with her family. Her favorite part of Disney World is their Animal Kingdom park and going on their wildlife safaris. She has a cat named Jackson and a dog named Bear.


Meet Karen

Karen Fox – Karen was born in Massachusetts but raised in California where she met her soulmate of 16 years. She now has 5 children ranging in ages from 6 to 15 and a very large Furbaby Sadie (an English Mastiff). She moved to the gulfcoast in 2014 from St. Mary’s, Georgia. In her free time she enjoys traveling the country with her family on their softball/baseball road trips for their many tournaments. Karen who has been an animal lover since she was a little girl walks and dog sits for many military families in the Gulf Coast area to get her furbaby fix. Her favorite quote by Eleanor Roosevelt “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” came true the day she started working at Lakeview Animal Hospital she now is fulfilling her dream of getting to work with animals and their human parents.
